Quiet Clean Virginia Foundation is dedicated to educating the general public, businesses, landowners, and lawmakers on the high social costs of gas-powered leaf blowers including local air and noise pollution, their negative effects on the health and safety of residents and lawn care workers, and their contribution to climate change. It enlists support for the reduced use of and the eventual elimination of gas-powered leaf blowers in our communities and raises awareness of alternatives to their use, including battery-powered lawn equipment and alternative models of lawn and garden care. It may expand its work to address other sources of local particulate and noise pollution, emissions causing climate change, and other pollutants that damage health and the environment.
To work toward these ends, Quiet Clean Virginia Foundation undertakes educational campaigns and conducts outreach to businesses, homeowners, students, civil society, religious organizations, the press and media, and local, state, and national government officials. It may use contributed funds for print and media content, analysis and study, sponsorship of awareness-raising activities, minor expenses related to volunteer efforts, and, if necessary, for such staff as may be necessary to support the volunteers and mission.
The specific objectives and purpose of this organization are:
- To distribute information related to the negative environmental, health and quality of life aspects of gas-powered leaf blowers and other sources of particulate, noise, or wastewater pollution, conducting outreach to home and other property owners, businesses, civic and religious organizations, students, media and government officials
- To promote discussion among citizens, lawn care service providers, lawn care workers, and other stakeholders regarding means for diminishing or eliminating the use of gas-powered leaf blowers and promoting alternatives to their use;
- To encourage engagement on this issue by like-minded not-for-profit environmental and educational organizations, including student, religious, and scientific groups;
- To sponsor community events designed to raise awareness on these and related issues
